Riley Rust

Center Grove

Description: This award is awarded to the wrestler that we feel improved the most throughout the season.

Breakdown: This is award is for the guys that may have not started their season on the best note but was able to turn it around and make a trip to the Bank. Center Grove’s Riley Rust was very up and down most of the year. Rust would beat most of the kids he was supposed to beat but would get beat by ranked guys, which is why he wasn’t ranked the whole year. Rust finished 4th at his conference tournament getting pinned in his last match before the postseason. Rust then went on to win his sectional and finished second at the regional. To get out the first round of regionals he had to beat a guy that pinned him at conference. At semi-state he had the same challenge in the ticket round. He turned it on when it mattered.
