Zach Errett And Staff

Avon

Description: This award goes to the coach, and staff, who has elevated their team the best.

Breakdown: Coach Sean McGinley was able to win back to back state championships, and put 3 kids in the finals. Coach Darrick Snyder and the Bulldogs of Brownsburg came into team state as the 4th seed and went on to take the dual title. Neither of these two will be taking home this award. Cathedral came into the season as a heavy favorite and had somewhat of a let down at team state, but was able to bounce back downtown. Coach Snyder has a case because he graduated 4 guys last year with a combined 14 state medals, and was still able to come away a title. However, there’s one staff that we feel elevated their team the best. A team that no one saw doing as well as they did, and that team would be Coach Zach Everett and the Avon Orioles. Avon came into this season as somewhat of an unknown. We knew they would have their hammers, but outside of that we didn’t know how the team would look, or even how good those hammers would do this year. Avon put everyone on notice at team state when they nearly took out top seeded Cathedral, before tearing their way through the backside of the bracket. All their efforts showed at Banker’s Life where they took 7, placed 4, put 3 in the finals, had 2 champions. The Oriale’s efforts also got them a trophy as they finished second at the state tournament as a team.
