Breakdown: This was a tight race with a lot of hammers dominating this season, but one wrestler stood out. Avon’s Asa Garcia went this season unchallenged, and unscathed, in the state of Indiana, and only suffered 1 loss this year, coming to nationally ranked Mick Burnett. He has nearly 20 wins against state placers this season. Asa picked up bonus points in 3 of the 4 matches he wrestled downtown, and had a crazy first period fall to win his 3rd state title. He dominated from start to finish, and even when the scores looked close they really weren’t. Asa’s amazing senior year wins him this years Hoosiermat Wrestler of the Year.
