Toby Billerman

Perry Meridian

Description: This award is given to the wrestler who came out of nowhere to make it to the state tournament.

Breakdown: This award is given out primarily to guys who were not varsity a year ago but come out firing on all cylinders when its their time. There were a lot of deserving wrestlers this year, such as Crown Point's Athony Bahl, who had a win over the state champion at the weight below him. Evansville Mater Dei's Evan Seng looked good this year as well with a 5th place finish at the state tournament. However, I went with the highest placer of the bunch and that was Toby Billerman. Billerman had no bad loses and slew of great wins on the year. He was close to sending the state champion in to OT in the semis at state before settling for a 3rd place finish. Billerman was also dominant against several guys who were on the podium this year.
